A Backdrop of Bluebells

A photoshoot was undeniably the best way to celebrate my completion of a dozen new watercolour and oil pieces inspired by the magical Bluebell wood near my home. With armfuls of props, paintings, easels and (of course) outfit options, the tranquil dreamy bluebells served as a vibrant and dynamic backdrop to accompany the pieces I had spent the last few months bringing to life here en plein air. This fairytale scene and painting shots were captured through the lens of my good friend and talented photographer Paula O’Hara. As Maya is usually my plein air partner, we obviously had to feature her (when she wasn’t sniffing around for the largest stick she could find that is!)

After my most recent experiment on Instagram where I asked you guys what words or feelings come to mind when looking at my Bluebell wood paintings, the top replies were calming, peaceful, serene and tranquil - exactly the mood me and Paula aimed to capture with this photoshoot. From casual sketching shots surrounded by Ivy climbing trees to dramatic wide angle frames swathed in knee high bluebells I couldn’t have been more pleased with the sheer variety of angles and moods we were able to capture on that peaceful April afternoon. I can’t wait to introduce you all to the dreamy new paintings inspired by these wild Bluebells - as well as the snapshots of this special place that made them possible.

With Love,
