Thank you for an amazing 6 weeks of Just Paint!

The 6 week watercolor course was for you - the beginner, the recovering perfectionist or anyone who has a set of watercolors sitting around begging to be used. This class has been the perfect opportunity to let go and relax, learn something new and Just Paint! I’m sure that every one of you reading this has struggled at some point to let go without the fear of making mistakes. We’re taught from a young age that if we aren’t good at something we should leave it and move onto the next thing. But no, the purpose of Just Paint was to break down those barriers and just have fun!

I have been blown away with the response I have received to Just Paint. Every week I look forward to seeing your paintings and how each of you incorporated your personal style. I personally chose paintings that would take you out of your comfort zone to help break those barriers of perfectionism while also teaching you tips and techniques for working with watercolours. I know there were probably a few of you who saw the preview for the painting each week and thought they were never going to be able to paint anything close to resembling it. But by simply picking up a paint brush and following carefully along you were able to create something amazing that you should be proud of!

I hope it is now clear to those who joined me over the 6 weeks that it is ok to mess up, let go and paint ugly art. It means you are pushing yourself and learning - it is all in the process of becoming a great artist! I still make ugly art and that’s ok. We need to break free from the perfectionist inside of ourselves sometimes, just breathe and go for it!
