Chasing Turquoise
Did you know Ireland has incredibly turquoise water? On a sunny day I’ve seen and swam in some of the most beautiful crystal clear water here. But never have I seen water more turquoise than the water around Dinish Island. In one of the Gaeltacht parts of Connemara, you can drive across a chain of tiny islands. I was out exploring and ventured out to the furthest part of this chain and spotted it.. the most intense vibrant turquoise I’ve ever seen. But the road ended and I couldn’t figure out how to get to it. I drove around in circles before finally parking my car and walking. I had to see it up close and it was breathtaking.
Where else in the world would you get a brilliant turquoise beach with no one else on it?
This painting represents that moment I spotted the turquoise. It’s a lot looser than most of my artwork but I really wanted the focus to be that intense color.
